“I was fortunate to be selected as a member of the GW Nanotechnology Fellowship Program, where we were trained on different nanotechnology tools and manufacturing techniques. During the second half of the summer, I worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory continuing the additive manufacturing research I had started in the nanotechnology program, [and] I presented my nanotechnology research at PhysCon in San Francisco in the fall.”

Support the Frances E. Walker Fund for Women in Physics

The Frances E. Walker Fund for Women in Physics was established by Mary Anne Frye, BA ’70, PhD ’75, to acknowledge her mother, Frances E. Walker, BA ’27, MA ’31. The fund supports programs that encourage and increase the participation of women in the study of physics.

Other ways to support Physics

There are other ways in which you can contribute to the training of new professionals and the development of groundbreaking discoveries:
  • Alumni, you can share your professional, work, and research experiences with our current students. Your mentorship and career advise would be very inspiring. Please contact physicsatgwu [dot] edu (physics[at]gwu[dot]edu) if you would be interested in talking with our current students, participating in a career panel, etc.
  • Employers, we invite you to share your job openings, internships, and other opportunities with physicsatgwu [dot] edu (physics[at]gwu[dot]edu). If you would like to learn more about what our undergraduate and graduate students/alumni do, please do not hesitate to contact us.
  • GW and non-GW community, high school students, families, and colleagues from other universities: you are invited to attend our events, arrange a visit to our facilities, and learn about what we do. If you are interested, please email the department.
